Hearing & Balance Disorders
Hearing Loss
Several conditions may contribute to hearing loss including trauma, infection, tumors, genetics and aging. We perform a comprehensive evaluation for all complaints of hearing loss. This evaluation includes a battery of tests that measure hearing and ear function. These tests are performed by a licensed audiologist within our building. For your convenience and expedited care you may schedule your hearing test and office visit on the same day. The hearing test takes about one hour and the office visit may take thirty minutes, so expect the appointment to last about 90 minutes. Common disorders associated with hearing loss include:
- Earwax obstruction
- Ear infectioninging in ears
- Ringing in ears
- Plugged ears
- Tumors
We utilize the latest medical techniques to treat ear infections, remove earwax and relieve the sensation of plugged ears. These techniques include microscope-guided suctioning for pain-free earwax removal and in-office ear tube placement for relief of plugged ears.
Balance Disorders
Dizziness and imbalance are commonly caused by dysfunction of the inner ear. We provide a comprehensive evaluation for all complaints of dizziness and imbalance. In some cases, we may order special balance tests to help us identify the cause of your balance disorder. Common disorders associated with dizziness and imbalance include:
- Benign positional vertigo
- Meniere’s disease
- Inner ear infection
- Tumors
Our providers are trained in performing the Epley maneuver to treat a common balance disorder called benign positional vertigo. We also offer in-office middle ear steroid infusion therapy for certain labyrinthine disorders.
